Just enough for Two (or Four)
This recipe makes two serves. Two super generous serves. So if you are feeding it to little kids, you could easily get away with stretching it to four kiddy sized serves.
Smoothie Leftover Tip
If you have any leftovers – and I seriously doubt you will ‘coz it’s a moreish kind of recipe – simply pour into a Popsicle mold and make into healthy chocolate ice pops for an after school or guilt-free after dinner treat.
How to Meal Prep with Smoothies
I never find it realistic to make up smoothie bags for our family because there are so many of us. We would go through a lot of bags! So I freeze my smoothie ingredients separately in their own freezer bags. I prefer these reusable ones as they are safe, washable and keep my fruit freezer-burn free. This way I can just grab what I want for each smoothie on the day and make it from scratch in a couple of minutes.
My Freezer Prepping Basics
These are the frozen fruits I like to keep in my freezer:
Ripe Bananas – Bananas never go to waste in our house. Ripe bananas get peeled, sliced and popped into freezer bags. When I need bananas for a smoothie, I simply grab a handful straight from the freezer.
Berries – I save a lot of money by purchasing frozen berries rather than fresh. I also think that frozen berries often taste better. They are generally picked at their prime before freezing, so the natural process of ripening makes them a little sweeter.
Lemons – squeeze lemon juice into ice cube mold and once frozen, pop the frozen lemon cubes into freezer bag. This little trick works well for most fruit purees and juices too.
