Pizza fits into a Clean eating diet. It does, even though we’re led to believe it doesn’t. This healthy Margherita pizza is Clean, healthy and delicious. And having pizza makes Clean eating, well, easy.

Healthy Margherita Pizza
One thing you notice when you first start eating Clean is that there never seems to be any food in your cupboards – only ingredients, so it’s very easy to turn a blind eye to some things, like take out pizza. And for a while after we started eating Clean, this is exactly what I did.
But, it was always a niggle. I knew most of our meals and snacks were Clean, but old habits die hard, right? Pizza was letting us down :)
And then I made my 2 Ingredient pizza dough. What a game changer! Not only is it super quick to make, not only is it Clean, but even better, the kids loved it. Yay!
These days, we make every single pizza we have at home. Of course there’s times when friends have ordered a delivery pizza and we’ll have some of that but you know what? None of us ever feel we’re missing out when we make our own. Cool, huh!
How To Make Margherita Pizza At Home
Making Margherita pizza at home is quick, easy and yummy. The dough takes minutes to make (kids seem to love helping with this!) and you get a fresh, healthy Margarita pizza in the time it takes to heat the oven.
I use a pizza sauce from the store if I can find a Clean one. Many (most?) store bought pizza base sauces are loaded with refined sugars and preservative ingredients I can’t even pronounce. Occasionally, I’ll come across a Clean one and I’ll get a few of them.
You can also make a very easy pizza sauce with tomato puree and Oregano herbs. Two of my kids will not tolerate Oregano on top of their pizza. They like the flavor, but don’t want to have to see it. I out the Oregano herbs in the sauce to get around this, and everyones happy :)
Margherita Ingredients
Using fresh ingredients is the secret to a delicious Margherita. The toppings for this pizza are so simple, it’s important to have them as fresh as possible.
Mozzarella
I buy Organic buffalo Mozzarella because it’s creamier, softer and has a far better flavor than Mozzarella made with cows milk. I think it’s the only thing I’ve ever eaten that’s made with Buffalo milk. It’s a little more expensive than regular Mozzarella, but well worth it. And anyway, compared to the price of having a pizza delivered, you’ll be saving cash!
Pizza Sauce
Store bought or homemade, you just want tomatoes and perhaps a few herbs in the ingredients list.
Basil
You can buy fresh Basil anywhere, and it’s cheap. Even cheaper is to have a pot on your kitchen windowsill. Apart from the fact it’s super easy to grow, it smells amazing and tastes even better!
