Maybe I’m a bit lazy. Maybe its just smart. Not sure. But I do know that making a half sheet pan pizza is a quick way to get a whole lot of pizza on the table without the fuss. Pizza nights have now become super easy. No more cute round individually customized pizzas. Uh uh. Those days are long gone. Now its half an half oven tray pizzas (usually two because that’s how many I can fit into my oven).
Half & Half Sheet Pan Pizza
Sheet pans are used with alarming frequency in this house. Really, I mean it’s so easy, no faffing about, line it with a piece of grease proof paper to save on the cleaning up time and there’s a million and one things you can make. (There’s 10 easy sheet pan dinners right here!).
And pizza’s no different. It’s easy, healthy and I’ve found over the years with my lot, as ling as it’s called pizza, they’ll try toppings on it they’d normally make a fuss over. Pizza might well be the ‘gateway’ food parents need to get their kids to try new foods. Start with a pizza and then gradually move said topping into other dishes. Genius huh!
One sheet pan pizza is too big for my kids, maybe except the biggest kid, so having a half and half pizza thing going on makes it easy, time saving and what whatever kid reason they have, they really like making these.
If the two little ones sharing their pizza, the pizza dough becomes a little like a shared bedroom war zone, there are some very definite rigid lines drawn that must not be crossed. There’s been actual measuring of the dough before now, I kid you not :)
Sheet Pan Pizza Dough
I use my 2 ingredient pizza dough for this half sheet pizza, it’s so easy to make, I always have the ingredients to hand and it’s ready to roll out in minutes. If you’ve not tried this yet, please do, it’s a pizza (among other things!) game changer and once you try it, you’ll likely not go back.
Roll it out to fit your sheet pan, and you’re good to go.
Pizza Toppings For Kids
There’s a whole array of things you can offer the kids to top their pizzas with. I start with a tomato base (tomato puree a little salt and Oregano, that’s it) and sprinkle it with shredded Mozzarella. And then I let the kids take charge. The pizza I’ve made here is chicken, roast vegetables and pesto on one half and BBQ chicken on the other.
Here’s some other pizza topping combos you can try:
- Ham and pineapple aka The Hawaiian
- Ground beef, cheddar, pickles and tomato aka The Cheeseburger
- Tuna and sweetcorn aka The Mighty Tuna
- Onions, red pepper, zucchini, sweetcorn and mushrooms aka The Vegetarian
