Oh. My. Goodness. This is our late night, need a snack now, what shall I eat, treat. Plain yogurt and cinnamon is perfect on its own or spooned onto pancakes, fruit or granola.
I add honey to ours, mostly. This simple snack or pudding is good on it’s own but with honey, it’s a whole other level!
What To Have With Cinnamon Yogurt
This can be put on loads of things. It’s really like a sweet cinnamon sauce, which in this house makes it perfect for Apple pies and puddings. It’s also pretty yummy when it’s got granola sprinkled into it, and makes a lovely Clean eating filling breakfast.
Or…just snack on this as you like, like I do, with a few chopped walnuts thrown on top! :)
I sometimes make this yogurt up ahead of time so it’s ready to come straight out of the fridge the next morning and be mixed. I use these glass yogurt pots when I do this. They’re the perfect size and can go in the dishwasher.
Plain Yogurt Cinnamon And Honey Benefits
While this undoubtedly tastes delicious, there’s more reasons to eat it than simply being yummy. Full fat Greek yogurt is not only luxuriously thick and creamy, it has a host of other benefits too. Cinnamon has real evidence based health benefits, as do some Honey’s.

- Greek yogurt can contain up to twice the protein of regular yogurt
- According to the USDA, Greek yogurt has less sodium by up to 50 percent
- Because Greek yogurt contains less carbohydrates than regular yogurt, it has less lactose, the sugar found in dairy products
- Greek yogurt contains probiotics, which may help improve digestive function and the immune system
Cinnamon
- Cinnamon is full of antioxidants
- The antioxidant effects fo Cinnamon mean it can even be used as a food preserver!
- Cinnamon has anti inflammatory properties
- May improve your bodies sensitivity to Insulin
Honey
You need to be a little bit careful with honey, as all honey’s are not created equal. To keep things simple in my head, I put them into 2 categories. Raw honey and Store honey. Store honey being the one that mostly line the supermarket shelves that we all know.
I buy raw honey. I buy it locally and if I can’t get any, we don’t have it until I can.
Raw honey comes straight from the hive, through a strain and into a honey pot. Store honey can be pretty heavily processed before it’s bottled. I say can be, because I know there are some honey manufacturers out there who’s honey is better and less processed than others.
But…honey being something my family really love, I found it too confusing to try and decipher labels with ingredients I couldn’t even pronounce let alone explain, and so we went Raw.
I should add, there’s lots of people with lots of opinions about honey. Some are convinced Raw is the only one with any health benefits, other people say there’s no difference between the two. And me? I just want to feed the kids food that’s as close to it’s natural state as possible, processed as little as possible and doesn’t have sneaky additives put in. That’s all :)
Benefits of honey:
- Antibacterial and anti-fungal properties
- Is thought to help wounds heal (by putting it on the cut, not in your mouth!)
- Great for soothing sore throats
- Raw honey is a great unprocessed sugar alternative for baking and cooking
- May help to lower blood pressure
