A little over boring old water? Try this Lime and Mint water to take your family’s water drinking habit to a whole new level. This is one of the tastiest water infusion combinations we’ve tried (and we have tried a lot). Plus it’s a hit with everyone in the family (even the fussy one). So I know when I’m on to a winner.

Lime and Mint Water
This lime and mint water couldn’t be easier to make. It really is simply adding the lime and mint to your water and leaving it to infuse. If you’re looking for a way to ween the kids off soda and get them drinking more water, this lime and mint infused drink might be just the thing.
It’s refreshing when ice cold and you can leave a jug of this in the fridge and let everyone help themselves. If your kids are used to the sugary taste of sodas then the strong flavor of limes and mint will help distract them from the missing sugar!
What Are The Benefits Of Lime And Mint Water?
There are various claims made about lime and mint water and while I can’t say one way or the other but what I can attest to is that increasing your water intake is very good for you!
Upping your intake of water has so many health benefits and you can read about what happens when you drink water for 30 days (instead of sodas!). It’s pretty incredible and I’m confident you’ll love the results :)
One thing I do is give the kids straws to drink this with. Limes are acidic and so frequent exposure to acidic foods can erode enamel, making teeth more susceptible to decay over time. Drinking through a straw helps to bypass the acid sitting on the tooth enamel. I’d also recommend not giving this to little ones through a sippy cup for the same reasons.
How Long Can I Leave Mint In Water?
I make a fresh jug of this daily and leave both the mint and the lime in the water all day. I have jug that filters out the lime and mint when you’re pouring it from the jug, so you don’t get many bits. You may well get the odd bit of lime ‘flesh’, but this just flavors it more.
The mint I use is grown in my garden and so I pick it fresh each day. It’s so easy to grow either inside or outside. My mint plant is a rooted plant I bought from the supermarket years ago and planted outside. It went mad and didn’t stop growing and so I have plenty. I’s suggest you buy a plant to keep in your kitchen or plant outside if you’re going to be making this regularly.
How To Serve Lime And Mint Water
Here are a 4Â ideas on how to serve it:
- Keep a jug of this refreshing infusion in the fridge for a ready to drink. Add ice when serving to chill a little more on a hot day
- Serve it up with plenty of ice at dinner or lunch
- Pop some lime and mint in the kids school drink bottles (I use an Infusion Water Bottle if I’m going to send it with the kids to school as the two little ones don’t like ‘bits in their water’)
- Add hot water instead of cold for an amazing night time drink (I’ve been doing this in the evenings to avoid my habitual late night coffee)
