I think I may have created something magical here! It’s not often I get to say that. Actually, I don’t think I ever have.
My son (the fussy one) ate a whole bowl of this broccoli fried rice. Gone. With the Broccoli. Without even a little itty bitty fuss. Magic, I tell ya!
With four kids I get to test a wide range of recipes on a wide range of likes and dislikes (more often than not they are never in agreement), but this time – this time I hit a winner.
This Broccoli fried rice was amazing and will definitely be added to hundreds of future meal times. I don’t think I’m exaggerating either. My daughter was doing the math. It’s a little depressing but I have cooked over 6,500 dinners since becoming a Mom. That’s a lot of kitchen mileage!

- Um. It’s got rice in it. Who doesn’t like rice? Nobody. That’s who
- The broccoli is chopped into super small bits so even the fussiest kid isn’t gonna be picking out the pieces
- There’s no more crunch. Personally I love my veggies to have a lot of crunch, but the kids not so much. Most of them seem to like no variation in their food texture. So this ticks that weird little box. By lightly sautéing the broccoli, you fuse the rice and veggie into a texture that seems to appeal to the whole family

How To Make Broccoli Fried Rice
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Cooked Brown Rice
- 1 Whole Broccoli Raw and chopped into tiny pieces
- 1 tsp Crushed ginger
- 2 tbs Soy Sauce Or Tamari
- Olive oil
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions
- Heat up a fry pan. Add olive oil and ginger. Sauté for about a minute. Add broccoli and lightly fry until broccoli softens (this will take about 5 minutes)
- Add the cooked rice to the pan and stir. Fry rice and broccoli mix for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and add soy sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Cover with lid to steam broccoli further if needed
