You know how some flavor combinations were just supposed to be together? This is one of them. Whipped banana oatmeal with maple syrup has to go down as one of the top 5 favorite food pairings here, and this whipped oatmeal breakfast recipe won’t disappoint anyone who’s given this for their breakfast. Just watch as the kids ask for it again and again. Yum :)
Whipped Banana Oatmeal
You can’t really beat creamy oatmeal for an easy peasy quick mid week breakfast for the kids. It takes so little time to whip up a batch, uses store cupboard ingredients and in the time it takes the kids to drag themselves down the stairs, it’s on the table.
But, and it’s a big but, it can get a bit…boring. Well, no more! I’ve been feeling stuck in a breakfast rut for a while now I think oatmeal’s my way out.
The inspiration for this whipped banana oatmeal recipe struck whilst making a banana smoothie and I figured I’d use that smoothie to make oatmeal.
And then I got carried away and decided to fully banana it up and added some pan fried banana as well, and before I knew it Maple syrup was being added and then suddenly, there was what one of the kids called ‘more like pudding than breakfast, can we have it again?‘ banana oatmeal sitting on the table, being devoured.
It’s creamy, it’s quick and it’s downright delicious.
Dairy Free Banana Oatmeal
I use Oat milk for many recipes as we’re trying to cut down on the dairy we’re eating and drinking. I’ve made this Oatmeal recipe now with every sort of milk imaginable and it always works. Coconut milk made the oatmeal very sweet and a little less creamy, while Oat milk and dairy milk both produce consistently creamy, rich results.
Making this dairy free is as simple as choosing the milk of your choice, and swapping the butter used for pan frying for a tiny amount of Olive oil. If you have an especially good non stick frying pan, you could use no oil, but the sugars in the banana are sticky when they’re heated, so beware!
