Life is busy. And there is always something else on the Mommy to do list. Prepping a Halloween costume for each child months in advance would have been the smart move. But .. um … nope. That didn’t happen. Maybe next year. Right now you need a Last Minute Halloween Costume that you can DIY for each child. REALLY, Really Last Minute
Don’t you hate it when you try and find a ‘last minute Halloween costume’ but everything involves at least one or two trips to the store. I sometimes wonder if other people have the same definition of ‘last minute’ as I do. I’m talking about 15 minutes before heading out the door kind of last minute. Really last Minute. If that’s what your mean by last minute – then these 20 {really} last minute DIY Halloween Costumes are going to save the day!
Scuba Diver
Dumpster dive and dig out some empty soda bottles. Paint any color (check the shed for old house paint). Add a pair of goggles and black clothes and your little scuba diver is set to go.
What you need: black clothes (optional but looks like wetsuits), empty soda bottles, paint, goggles, black tape, string (or ribbon to tie the ‘tanks’ on).
Google Maps / Suri
An awesome outfit if you have two kids to dress up – One as Point A and one as Point B.
What you will need: Red Board, Black marker pen, yellow tape, paper to print out street names and icons.
Stick Man (or Woman)
A Classic, easy to make costume that the kids love (don’t know why, but this is always a hit)
What you’ll need: White shirt and pants (if you don’t have white pants then go with black and change the color of your tape) to white, White Card to cut out face, knife to cut our face, black tape.
Bubble Bath
Inflate white balloons to pin on a T-shirt, add a shower cap and a loofah, and there you have it — you’re a bubble bath! Get the tutorial at Good Housekeeping.
What you’ll need: White balloons, safety pins,, loofah sponges, shower cap.
Emoji Masks
This is the Perfect Halloween Costume if you have a ton of kids and 2 minutes to dress them up. Print out your favorite emoji stick it to a dowel stick (or a ruler will do nicely too).
What you will need: Emoji Printables (Get our kids 5 favorites here) , Stick, Glue
Any Minecraft Character Ever
Minecraft anything is always a hit with the kids. And lucky for us Moms, if you have a printer or a cardboard box – you can pull a minecraft costume together in no time at all. Check out these guides to learn now make your own Creeper head and a Steve head and sword, They mostly require just a little printing and cutting.
What you need: Cardboard Box, Printer and paper, scissors and glue
Flower Pot
Too cute! Looks like you really tried with this one (but we both know it took you all of 5 minutes to recreate the cutest flower pot ever!).
What you need: plastic bucket, fake flowers, hot glue gun. This only works if you have fake flowers in the house. Otherwise toss some towels into the bucket and send them as laundry!
Olaf the Snowman
Is Frozen still a thing? If your little one is still even a little obsessed with Frozen, then give this Olaf Inspired Dress up a whirl.
What you will need: White top, white cap, black paper. white paper, black pipe cleaners, orange felt (or paper) for the nose
Russel from UP
Shorts, tee and a couple balloons. Yup this is a goodie. If you have a few minutes spare, print off a couple boy scout badges to wear across the chest (stick them to an old scarf or dishtowel).
What you need: balloons and a cap
Campfire
Paint some pieces of Pool Noodles for the wood and add yellow and orange paper ‘flames’. Give the kiddo some marshmellows on a stick and you are on to a winner!
What you will need: old pool noodle, paint, red t-shirt, marshmallows (the most important part of the costume)
A Grape
Too easy? I think not. All you need for this crazy easy costume is some purple balloons and a some green fabric for the leaves (or coloured paper). Glue the leaves to a headband or use a clip to secure to the hair.

Fishtank
I’m not sure if this will ho a little over 15 minutes, but I think that you could do it in a pinch.
What you will need: Blue T-shirt, Cardboard Box, Some plants from the garden (for seaweed), Paint, Printable Fish, Glue to attach the fish to the childs shirt (or string if you want them to float around a bit). TO make things a little easier, here are some printable fish you can use.
Dolphin
Now this is going to test your arty skills but needs very little in the way of materials. I’m talking cardboard boxes and paint for this one.
What you need: a Big cardboard box, blue and white paint. Cutting Skills
Badass Baby
This could work for all ages. Get our your eyeliner and add a moustache and some tats. Add a Bandanna, rip the shirt sleeves off to bring the look together.
And If all else fails … You know what you need to do … Go with the Ghost (this will please your kids up until at least the age of 7. After that. You might need to choose one of the other 15 other options I gave you. Coz’ I know that;s what I will be doing :)
